What is the difference between green and not green web host?

In terms of service quality and price value? Maybe someone have some articles about that? What is better Aiso.net, which is green powered web host or Rackspace.com?
Please pour more light on that.

Its simple - Green Hosting uses technologies which do not harm environment, not green - correspondingly.

Greening tendency is throughout the world, in all areas of industry.

Green web hosts are just hosting companies that power their servers with renewable energy such as wind and solar power or offers carbon offsetting by buying green tags or RECs.

Green or Eco-friendly website hosting is a recent addition to the field of website hosting which involves a given website hosting company attempting to prove that they are not having any negative impact on the environment in an attempt to attract consumers.

The only difference between green web hosting and standard hosting is the impact your website has on the environment. Green hosting companies utilize energy efficient servers that are generally 100% carbon neutral. These hosting plans offer the same amenities as other plans and are cost competitive with most lost cost hosting providers

Both eco-friendly and green web hosting providers are doing their part to save the planet. However, if you are seeking a web host that truly is green, be sure to do a bit of homework before deciding which is the one for you.

Being Green or not have nothing to do with the quality of hosting. First you decide whether you want to select only the green host or not. Then short lists the hosts.

I have always been unclear what 'green' means in this whole schema apart from the word appearing on packaging as incentive to buy Product A instead of Product B.. I know the basics, but how soon do we start tossing 'greener than green' catch phrases in businesses (Our business is 3X greener that that business, etc) . When I was little, 'saving the environment' was as simple and picking up litter and placing it in a trash can. Seems ineffective now, -almost misguided in its simplicity. Then came plastics to the rescue, bags, sacks, bottles, shipping containers, chairs, tables, etc. allegedly saving millions of trees. It's benefit mainly is that that is is stable, does not degrade in landfills. THAT was the 'the best' for ecology. Now that is wrong, and plastics are evil.

as always so your research before selecting a provider. Jsut because a providers says they are Green - doesnt mean they are. Ask them for some evidence to back up their claims.
